The city is served by Ngurah Rai International Airport, also known as Denpasar International Airport. Ngurah Rai is the third busiest airport in Indonesia and is ranked 1st in the country and 7th best in the world. It has regular international flights from America, Australia, Europe and most Asian countries. Some of the international cities connected to Bali include Singapore, Brisbane, Manila, Seoul, Bangkok, Tokyo, etc. Bali is also well connected to all major cities of the country. Some of the key airlines serving this airport include Emirates, Dragonair, Cathay Pacific, Korean Air, Qatar Airways, Singapore Airlines, etc.
There are no railway services in Bali. Travellers can take a train to Banyuwangi and later catch the ferry to Bali. From Jakarta, Yogyakarta or Bandung there are trains to Surabaya’s Gubeng Station. From there, you can take the Mutiara Timur, a non-air conditioned train to for Banyuwangi. There are two daily departures and the journey takes 8 hours. A bus can be used to travel across the ferry and head to Denpasar
While one cannot travel to Bali by road, there are ferry services that make travelling to Bali possible. Bali is connected to Java and Jakarta by several bus services. There are regular buses that ply between Jakarta and Bali. These buses are operated by private companies like Lorena, Pahala Kencana and Kramat Djati. These are all long journeys (15 to 24hr), so it is recommended to take an air-conditioned bus like the Lorena buses, which are comfortable and have a bathroom attached. These buses are used by locals on a regular basis so be prepared for crowds and noise.
