Langkawi is connected with several points in Malaysia with regular and direct air connections like Kulala Lumpur and Penang, as well as several other overseas cities like Singapore, Phuket, Seoul, and cities of Australia, China, and Japan. Airlines like Malaysia Airline, Air Asia, Silk Air etc. provide regular air connectivity to the city.
Nearest Airport: The nearest airport is the Langkawi International Airport. It is located at Padang Matsirat and it is about 25 minutes away by road from the town centre.
There is no road connection all the way to Langkawi. Visitors can however, travel by road down from mainland Malaysia to ferry terminals at Kuala Kedah which is located at the north-western coast of Malaysia, about 6 hours from Kuala Lumpur or the ferry terminal at Kuala Perlis further up. Regular buses/coaches are available between Kuala Lumpur and Kuala Perlis (takes about 8 hours). Buses leaves from Pudu Sentral bus station or Hentian Duta bus station in Kuala Lumpur. The bus stand at Kuala Perlis is at a walking distance from the ferry dock.
